The Wolf Cave is a unique sight, and nothing like it exists anywhere else in the Nordic Countries. In the Wolf Cave can be seen the signs of Ice Age, and the cave itself is the oldest known human dwelling in Finland. In Karijoki is an information centre with exhibitions, where the visitor gets an idea about the way of life before the Ice Age.

The Wolf Cave is located on the borders of Karijoki municipality and city of Kristinestad. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Finland, and demonstrates where and how human beings lived before the earth was covered by the Ice Age for thousands of years. The dense flooring of the cave and the stone tools are over 120 000 years old. The terrain of the Wolf Cave with the surrounding nature also recounts the millennial history of the area. You can peek inside through the opening of the cave, even though the cave itself is inaccessible due to safety reasons. In the winter the opening of the cave is covered in order to shield the cave.

The Wolf Cave Information Centre is located in Karijoki. The Information Centre is open during the summer, and there is an exhibition demonstrating the Wolf Cave, the geology and archaeology as well as the history of the region.
